Crystal - Rare Pokemon
Entei, Raikou, Suicune, the legendary beasts. Lugia, Ho-oh, the legendary birds. Celebi, the time-travel Pokemon. What are they? Legendaries. When I say rare, I not only mean very few, I mean only one. When I say only one, I mean legendary. On this page, you will learn how to capture the legendary Pokemon in the English version of Crystal.
Legendary Beasts
Where do you find Entei, Raikou, and Suicune in the Crystal version? Same thing as Gold/Silver. Entei and Raikou can be found in the wild grasses of Johto, but Suicune can be found in four extra places.
To have a chance to catch Suicune, you must first meet it in three different places in Johto. Right outside
of National Park on Route 36, the middle entrance of Mt. Mortar, and next to the Poke Seer's house
in Cianwood.
After saving the director in the Radio Tower, he'll give you a Clear Bell. Go fight the Wise Trio inside the house that leads to the Tin Tower. They each have a Noctowl, and one of Eevee's old three evolutions. After beating them, go to the Tin Tower, where you'll fight Suicune. Hopefully, you'll catch the level 40 Suicune.
To catch Lugia, get the Silver Wing in Pewter City from the old man, and Surf south of Olivine City. Keep surfing on the edge until you reach the first island. Go in there, and Lugia will be there. It is level 60.
Catching Ho-oh is a lot harder than in Gold/Silver. First, you must catch all three legendary dogs.
Then you have to get all 16 badges. Then you go back to the Tin Tower, and talk to the main sage,
the one whose standing in the center. He'll give you the Rainbow Wing, and stairs to the top of the Tin Tower
will appear. Go through the maze, and finally you'll reach a level 60 Ho-oh. After catching/defeating it,
you'll find a Pokemaniac. He's not important, but you can talk to him if you want to.
Normally, Celebi cannot be captured in the English version of Crystal. But with a Gameshark code, you can try to catch it. Look for it in the Gameshark Codes section...
